WINGED SPRINT CARS HEAT UP COLD RACE TRACK

The Inland Northwest Sprint Car Series at Stateline Speedway

Post Falls, Idaho (April 12, 2005) – The season opening Inland Northwest Sprint Cars event at Stateline Speedway was an exciting early season success this past Saturday night.

The evening got under way with Kevin Burke of Ephrata, Wash., posting the fastest time in the #65 Red Perkins owned, Inland Northwest Consultants, Jaba Jitters and Dean Alexander Motorsports sponsored car. The cool temperatures kept the teams on their toes all night on the tight 1/4-mile oval. Burke also picked up the win in the four-lap trophy dash featuring a spirited battle with second year driver, Wes Helgeson of Spanaway, Wash.

In victory lane Burke said, “I just want to thank the Perkins family and my other great sponsors for the chance to drive such great equipment; it is good to be back behind the wheel!”

Heat race action saw Burke grab the lead early, but engine troubles would retire him for the evening. Second fastest qualifier Rick Nelson picked up the win with “Rookie-of-the-Year” contender Tony Berry second, and Rich Hill third.

The premier event of the evening had Berry and long time competitor Dave Hill on the front row. Berry quickly jumped out to the lead driving the #53, HEI Motorsports, Cyberwize.com Gambler machine and never looked back. Dave Hill finished second and Nelson third.

The main event win for Berry, a Junior at Gonzaga University in Spokane, came in just his first race in a sprint car.

“I really need to thank the HEI Motorsports team for allowing me the opportunity to drive one of their competitive racecars,” remarked Berry, “I am excited about what this year has to offer us all.”

This year marks a season of growth for the INSCA as they are building off a successful 2004 venture. The series is designed to provide a market of affordable/competitive sprint car racing with “common sense” motor rules and American Racer tires. The 11 race series will make two stops at the Umatilla, Oregon track with the remaining nine races at Stateline Speedway.

The next race for the INSCA group will be at Stateline Speedway on May 14th.
